Learning about light has really helped me in my development as a photographer. There is a huge difference in a shot depending on light and it was very interesting to see just how much light could affect your subject. Light is so important when taking photographs and i have realized that there is a world of difference between hard and soft light as well as the angle in which light hits. There is no correct way to use light (as most photographers develop images based on style) however is it important to note just how much light can effect the shot you are trying to create/take.
